Mini-Laptop: Samsung Go

  • DESIGN. Samsung Go has rounded design and a rubberized shell, slicker than other boxy netbooks. The Go comes in four colors: Mint Blue, Midnight Blue, Sunset Orange, and Jet Black.
  • DIMENSION. A little weighty, but the appearrance is slimmer than its real dimension (10.3X7.3X1.1 inc)
  • SCREEN. Like most netbooks, its 10.1-inch screen has native resolution: 1024 by 600 pixels.
  • KEYBOARD. The keys well spaced, and the keyboard is a pleasure to type on. Its touchpad, with single-bar mouse button, could be bigger, although it is ok.
  • PERFORMANCE. The score of WorldBench 6: 36 - average score for most mini-laptops.
  • BATTERY. The six-cell battery got PC World Test Center result: 9 hours, 6 minutes. According to LaptopMag.com, the 8850 mAh battery lasted 8 hours and 23 minutes for Web surfing via Wi-Fi. It is more than 2 hours longer than six-cell netbook average. While Toshiba mini NB205 have longer battery life (9:24).
  • SPECS. CPU: Intel 1.6GHz Atom N270; RAM: 1GB (upgradable to 2GB); HDD: 160GB; three USB ports (two of which are powered), a 1.3-megapixel Webcam, mic and headphone jacks, a flash card reader, Bluetooth, and 802.11b/g, ethernet, and VGA-out jacks.

Nokia Announced New Mini-Laptop

  • The handset manufacturer has announced its new mini-laptop (netbook), called Nokia Booklet 3G.
  • Portability and connectivity will be its strength features. Nokia promised to provide up to 12 hours battery life, with the integrated mobile broadband, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and assisted GPS (A-GPS). Nokia Booklet 3G will weigh 1.25kg and will be just over 2 cm thick.
  • Nokia Booklet 3G will have a 10-inch glass, HD-ready screen. There is also included HDMI port.
  • The mini-laptop will be powered by Intel 1.6MHz Atom Z530 processor, and will operate Microsoft Windows.

Lite-On Release External DVD for Mini-Laptop

You will have a problem of installing a new application stored on CD-ROM or DVD-ROM onto a mini-laptop (netbook). There is no disc drive on mini-laptop. Fortunately, Lite-On has released a new external DVD writer this week.



The Lite-On eTAU108 makes your life easier, now you can read or write onto discs; with writing DVDs at up to 8x and CDs up to 24x. Standard disc reading also reach 8x for DVDs and 24x for CDs. The external drive - available in piano black and pearl white - only needs a single USB 2.0 cable for power and operation, and weighs under 350 grams. The new product will be available from September at a price around US$65.
